What Reading collects

Reading uses an account email address for sign-in. An account can create learner profiles that do not need their own email addresses. For each learner, Reading stores the profile name and accessibility preferences you provide, language paths, lesson history, answers, and structured pronunciation results so that learner’s progress can continue across sessions.

Each learner has a separate internal identifier. When an authorized account is linked to a learner, that account may access the learner according to its access grant without moving or duplicating the learner’s progress.

The app uses essential cookies to keep the account signed in and remember the selected learner. It does not use learner data for advertising, sell personal information, or create public learner profiles.

Speech assessment

When you choose to record a reading response, the app sends that recording and the displayed reference text to Microsoft Azure Speech to assess pronunciation. Reading does not keep the raw recording after the assessment request. It may store the scores, recognized text, timing, error categories, and related structured feedback returned by the service.

Services that process data

• Neon provides sign-in and the database that stores account and learning data.
• Microsoft Azure Speech processes recordings submitted for pronunciation assessment.
• Cloudflare R2 delivers curriculum images and audio. Learner recordings are not stored there.
• Vercel hosts the application and may process ordinary request, device, security, and performance information needed to operate it.

Your choices

You can export the selected learner’s Reading data from the Profile screen. The account that created a learner can also permanently delete that learner’s profile, paths, responses, and progress; this removes the learner from every linked account. Deleting learner data does not delete the separate sign-in account or its other learner profiles. You can avoid speech processing by not starting a recording.
